Mission Statement

The Way Forward for WPCCA

William September unveiled the agreed roles and responsibilities of the WPCCA, formalized after long negotiations with WPCA. They constitute the mandate to create our niche and allow the Association to meet the challenges and requirements of our membership. With the increased level of authority comes much responsibility and we as an organization need to bolster our numbers and support, particularly at committee level to manage the future demands. Mr. September confirmed the following roles had been signed off by Amateur Cricket Manager Nabeal Dean and WPCA CEO Andre Odendal.

 

A. Reporting Structures

  1. The WPCCA Executive committee will report directly to the General Council on all coaching policy matters
  2. The WPCCA Executive committee will report directly to the General Manager for all coaching operational matters within the Western Province Cricket Association
  3. The coaching manager (reporting to the General Manager) will serve as a link between the WPCA and WPCCA for all certified coach education matters; but will have no line function over the WPCCA Executive committee


B. The WPCCA will be entrusted with self governance status regarding the following WPCCA operational roles and responsibilities (with due regard for the jurisdiction of the WPCA reporting structures):

  1. The identification and selection of candidates for CSA coaching courses above level 2
  2. Serving on an Appointment committee, convened and tasked with the appointment of all Youth Provincial Coaches
  3. Acting as a sole portal (gateway) for the accessing of WPCA amateur coaching opportunities and vacancies (other than junior provincial coaches)
  4. Acting in an advisory capacity to WPCA with regards to the recruitment and appointment of candidates for any other WPCA amateur cricket coaching related vacancies and opportunities
  5. Acting as a sole portal (gateway) between WPCCA members and external organisations (including clubs) regarding the recruitment of candidates for external amateur cricket coaching vacancies and opportunities 
  6. The evaluating of regional and  zonal youth coaches
  7. The joint management (with the coaching manager) of the database consisting of all of those who have completed level 1, 2, 3, 4 CSA cricket coaching qualifications; as well as those who have completed Mini cricket qualifications, to date.
  8. The establishment of a Coach Development Framework for WPCA aligned with CSA and SASCOC strategies; 
  9. Organising of coach development interventions

C. Dissemination of coaching related information and access to coaching opportunities and vacancies

      1. The coaching manager will be responsible for the dissemination of CSA coaching related information and access to coaching opportunities and vacancies to all members of the WPCCA executive committee
      2. The WPCCA chairperson (or his delegate) will be responsible for the dissemination of SASCOC and WPSC (WP Sport Council) coaching related information and access to coaching opportunities and vacancies to all members of the WPCCA executive committee
      3. Any other member of the WPCCA executive committee who is delegated to attend and participate in any other coaching related event, will be responsible for the dissemination of such coaching related information and access to coaching opportunities and vacancies to all members of the WPCCA executive committee
